Gillian Lee, Chief People Officer

ShiftControl really felt like a natural extension of our team.

Gillian Lee

Chief People Officer at GetGo

As GetGo scaled to 170 employees, SaaS management became increasingly complex — especially for a People team without deep technical expertise.

Before ShiftControl, onboarding and offboarding involved many manual steps across different platforms. There was no clear overview of:

  • What SaaS tools existed across the organizsation

  • Who owned each system

  • What needed to be provisioned (or removed) for each employee

  • Where contracts and renewal costs lived

Like many growing companies, systems had accumulated organically. Visibility was limited. Processes were partly documented, partly tribal knowledge.

"We are an HR team managing IT operations with no real technical understanding of how everything works."

As complexity increased, so did the risk of missed access, inconsistent onboarding, and unclear ownership.

Why ShiftControl

GetGo was already running a modern stack — Google Workspace, JumpCloud for MDM, HiBob as their HRIS, plus a wide range of team-specific SaaS tools.

What stood out about ShiftControl was its ability to integrate directly into that ecosystem.

  • Deep Google Workspace integration

  • JumpCloud integration

  • Custom HiBob integration built to fit their needs

  • Ability to organize apps by groups to guide onboarding

  • Renewal and contract tracking

Just as importantly, the ShiftControl team invested heavily in partnership.

“What stood out was how deeply the ShiftControl team believed in the value of the product and how much time they invested to help us evaluate and implement it at a pace we were comfortable with.”

For a non-technical HR team, that level of support made the difference.

The team was very fast and responsive to any queries we had. It really felt like they were a natural extension of our team.

A hands-on partnership

Implementation wasn’t instant — and that’s what makes this story credible.

At first, confidence was low.

“At first, we struggled to understand what the platform could really do and how we should set it up.”

Rather than pushing for a fast rollout, the ShiftControl team worked closely with GetGo’s People team, explaining technical concepts in plain language and walking through setup multiple times.

“Dan was very patient in walking — and re-walking — us through very technical details in as layman a manner as possible. His explanations really helped us gain confidence.”

Support happened directly inside Slack and over Google Meet, fitting naturally into their workflow.

This founder-led, hands-on approach also shaped how ShiftControl evolved its onboarding experience. The questions, friction points and feedback from the GetGo team helped shape a clearer, more guided self-onboarding flow for future customers, especially HR-led teams without deep technical backgrounds.

“Working closely with teams like GetGo showed us exactly where onboarding felt overwhelming. That feedback directly influenced how we redesigned our self-onboarding experience — making it clearer, more guided, and more confidence-building from day one.”
Efrim, Founding Designer, ShiftControl

This collaborative loop — learning from customers and refining the product — reflects how ShiftControl continues to mature alongside the companies it supports.

The Results So Far

While implementation is still evolving, the impact has already been meaningful.

1. More organizsed onboarding

Onboarding flows are now more structured and less manual. Apps are grouped clearly, making it easier to guide new hires through access provisioning.

2. Clearer visibility into app ownership and access

For the first time, the team has a stronger overview of:

  • What SaaS tools exist

  • Who owns each system

  • Which employees should have access

“We’ve developed a stronger overview of our own systems and how to manage access better.”

3. Increased confidence in access management

While not every workflow is fully automated yet, key flows — like HRIS to Google Workspace and JumpCloud, orchestrated through ShiftControl — are now automated, significantly reducing manual work and uncertainty.

“ShiftControl increased our confidence in dealing with system access onboarding.”

4. SaaS contract and cost awareness

Renewal tracking and cost visibility added another layer of operational control — something that previously lacked central oversight.

What They Learned

Working with ShiftControl surfaced important insights about their own systems and processes.

“We learned how provisioning works — or doesn’t — and the limitations of SaaS access controls.”

Beyond tooling, the project improved internal process thinking around:

  • Structured onboarding

  • Ownership clarity

  • Access governance

  • System accountability

For a People-led function managing a growing SaaS stack, that shift in mindset is powerful.

What's next

GetGo has focused first on onboarding and visibility. The next phase is strengthening offboarding automation and tightening access removal workflows.

ShiftControl already supports automated offboarding — including orchestrating access removal across connected systems like Google Workspace and JumpCloud. GetGo has not yet fully rolled out these flows internally.

“Even though we now have better oversight, we’re not yet fully confident about our ability to remove access effectively during offboarding. That’s something we’d love to tackle next.”

The foundation is in place. The next step is activating and refining these offboarding automations to further reduce risk and manual work.

This ongoing partnership approach reflects a realistic journey toward stronger governance — not a one-time software install.

In Their Words

“ShiftControl is a very useful solution if you have a lot of SaaS that you are struggling to manage and want to organize and track them properly.”

"The platform is well designed and easy to use, and the team is highly knowledgeable and helpful — which we really appreciate as a non-technical team."

One word to describe the experience?

“Enlightening.”
